Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy majoring in Cyber Operations, with hands-on experience in red teaming, network analysis, and cyber assessments. Aspiring Cryptological Warfare Officer committed to defending the nation through technical excellence and principled leadership.
I'm Kenny Namango, a Midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy studying Cyber Operations. I grew up in Marietta, Georgia and my family is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Both of those things shaped how I see the world.
At USNA I'm currently serving as Admin Sergeant for my company. Before that I competed as a Division I soccer player, which honestly taught me more about leadership and mental toughness than anything else I've done.
This summer I'm interning at JHU Applied Physics Laboratory working on red teaming, network analysis, and cyber assessments. After graduation, my goal is to commission as a Cryptological Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy.
Took on the Admin Sergeant billet for my company, handling records, coordination, and keeping things running day to day. It's a leadership role that requires a lot of attention to detail and follow-through.
Working on red team operations, network analysis, and cyber assessments at one of the country's top defense research labs. I get to apply what I've learned at USNA to real problems in a cleared environment, which has been a great experience.
After transitioning off the playing roster, I stayed connected to the program as a team manager. I support the coaching staff and players day to day, and it's been a good way to stay involved in something I care about.
Studying Cyber Operations at USNA with coursework in cybersecurity engineering, network analysis, systems design, and discrete math. I've done hands-on labs in OSINT, packet analysis, and control systems security, which are some of the most practical things I've worked on so far.
Played Division I soccer at USNA while balancing the full academic and military schedule the Academy demands. It was one of the hardest things I've done, and also one of the most valuable. I transitioned off the team due to injury.
Studied Computer Science at KSU before receiving my appointment to the Naval Academy. That year gave me a strong programming foundation and confirmed that I wanted to pursue a career at the intersection of technology and national security.
If you're a recruiter, a fellow mid, or just someone interested in cybersecurity or national defense, feel free to reach out. I'm always happy to connect.
